New Orleans Saints
The Saints are understandably favourites for the NFC South again, albeit a bit closer this season due to the Buccaneers business since last year. I can’t see past the Saints winning the division comfortably though. It is unlikely that it will be a 6 game difference like last year but the Buccs won’t improve enough to beat them to the division. A fourth straight division title for the Saints.
I think it is fair to say that the Falcons have a nightmare of a schedule this year. With the NFL’s decision to cancel the international games, the Falcons find themselves with an extra game at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. Sadly, I don’t think that or the addition of Gurley is going to be enough to help them. Despite a solid second half of the 2019 season, including beating the Saints and the soon-to-be NFC Champs the 49ers in their own back yard, they have arguably the toughest schedule in the NFL this time round. For me, getting more than one win on the road would be considered an achievement for the Dirty Birds as their decline since the Super Bowl humbling looks set to continue. A third straight losing year beckons.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
All aboard the hype train? Not for me. The Buccs are this year’s Browns in my opinion, they will fail to live up to the massive expectations. The improvement to an already fun-to-watch offense will make them enjoyable again, even if the interceptions have been removed from the equation! But with 5 games against last years playoff teams, half of which are the Bucc’s home games, I still see them improving only slightly on last year, and it will be second place to the Saints.
A new era begins in Carolina and I have to admit that I am looking forward to seeing how Bridgewater performs in 2020. He played amazing last season standing in for Brees and I genuinely think he will thrive for the Panthers as the main man. With a tough schedule though I see them improving only very slightly from last year in terms of wins but it will be enough to make sure that they are not the basement team come December. A transitional year for the Panthers.
