NFL Week 5 2020 Round Up

Week 5 NFL Results

As one quarterback made his unlikely return in week 5 another made an unfortunate exit. I can’t think there was any NFL fan that wasn’t delighted to see the return of Washington’s Alex Smith. After an injury that wasn’t just career-threatening but potentially life-threatening, to see him suit up and get out there was inspirational and I hope it serves as motivation for Dak during his own recovery. I can’t have been the only one that was wincing every time Aaron Donald was hunting Smith down though? Usually, I’m wishing him to smash most of the QBs there! Donald wasn’t bothered though, the professional in him had him jumping on his back like a tiger bringing down his prey. Todd Gurley was the man this week, rushing for 121 yards and a touchdown but his heroics couldn’t help the ATL to their first win. A hat-trick of receiving touchdowns and one on the ground for the Pittsburgh rookie Chase Claypool sent everyone into a fantasy-football-waiver-wire scramble this week (except those of us who already own him but left him and his 42 points on their bench…)

Let’s have a look at how the Far From Lombardi teams did this week then. Da Bears got week 5 off to a winning start, with a close one against Brady and the Buccs and the Miami Dolphins repaid Tony for his faith in them by battering the fading 49ers into submission. And that’s it, that’s where the wins end for the Far From Lombardi teams in week 5. The dumpster fire that is the New York Jets continues to burn hotter than the sun as they released star running back Lev Bell and weighed in with their customary weekly loss. Alex Smith aside, the Washington Football Team provided no other inspiration, losing again. The result of the week though has to be the Raiders pillaging the Chiefs for the win, Las Vegas coming out on top in a 72 point score-fest.

The Tipster Table

It seems that I am as bad at maths as I am at betting, updating the table wrong up to now! The accurate profit / loss league table based on our selections is now below.

I would like to remind Rob that 4-1 is a misleading stat, just as he keeps reminding me how shit the 4-1 Bears are when compared to his 4-1 Chiefs. I wonder which one Rob is most like? Tom finally gets himself into contention but he’s not off the bottom of the table yet…

Week 5 Fantasy Football Results

Mark’s woes continue as he falls to yet another defeat and he is still on course for the wooden spoon, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone go a full season in fantasy football without winning a game… Don’t worry Mark, you know I’ve jinxed myself because we play in week 6!

Mahomes-Under-The-Hammer continues to blaze ahead with another 190+ point week, but Rob is keeping on the pressure with another win and they both now lead at 4-1.

If you open a William Hill account using any of our links you’ll be supporting the site and the podcast but more importantly, if you’re a new player you can get the William Hill 2 x £15 free bets for a £10er. Don’t be a divvy though, betting is supposed to be fun, if you can’t laugh about losing what you’ve bet, you’re taking it too seriously and have probably bet too much, take it easy!

We’re marching on whether Covid likes it or not, the lads discuss the happenings in Week 5 including the Jets releasing Le’Veon Bell and Falcons letting go of Dan Quinn.
