Before the weekly round up lands this week, the lads decided to do a special half-season episode to give their thoughts on the season at the half way stage and to discuss their collectables obsessions. While Mark suffers at home with Covid, the lads interview his potential replacement as special guest Mehdi joins Rob, Tom and Tony.
This Far From Lombardi half time report is brought to you by NFL UK Card Breaks – head over to their Facebook page for the best NFL card group dedicated to breaks – their aim is to be the cheapest card-breaker in the UK to help all of you improve your NFL and Rookie card collections at the cheapest possible price.
A look back at the first week of the playoffs, divisional round is through and things get serious as last year's league best come into the fray. we discuss the comings and goings in management and just what is happening at the Texans as well as a cheeky look at just where Deshaun Watson could end up if we had our way.
If you open a William Hill account using any of our links you’ll be supporting the site and the podcast but more importantly, if you’re a new player you can get the William Hill 2 x £15 free bets for a £10er. Don’t be a divvy though, betting is supposed to be fun, if you can’t laugh about losing what you’ve bet, you’re taking it too seriously and have probably bet too much, take it easy!

Everyone’s played 8 now and it’s time to start considering just how realistic the chances are, looking at who is or isn’t making the playoffs… then there’s the actual NFL and not just the fantasy league!

I honestly didn’t think we could get any worse, but it’s 1-4 this week! The next mile stone will be either 5-0 or 0-5 … I’m pretty certain I know which is most likely… at least Rob is still in profit.

Week 9 Picks
Listen to the podcast this week for who is to blame for each of the picks…
Oh boy, we have our first 200-burger! Mahomes-Under-the-Hammer beating Tony into submission. In fact, with Cook and Mahomes combining for 95 points, Mahomes-Under-the-Hammer could have beaten both Mikedixon22Patriots and Rob’s Crown-Takers with just those 2 players alone! Rob stays top though as we move on to week 9.

Or listen on your favourite podcast provider… we’re at the halfway point already, join the lads as they try to discuss the NFL but instead Tony looks to take his bad day out on the rest of us…
And then there was one… by the end of week 7 we were left with just one undefeated team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans’ Gostkowski missed a last ditch game tying field goal and couldn’t prevent the Steelers moving to 6-0.
The Falcons deserve another shout out for yet another laughable finish, this time Gurley flopping down over the line when trying ‘not’ to score! He goes in to the end zone and lets the Lions get the ball back and what followed is standard for all ATL fans by now – another defeat from the jaws of victory.
Same shit, different game!
Washington scalped the Cowboys and the Chiefs destroyed the Broncos despite not playing that well but the Bears and, obviously, the Jets lost.
More major injuries this week as 2020 continues its cruel cull. Odell Beckham and Dede Westbrook tore ACLs and Landon Collins heads to IR requiring Achilles surgery. Kenyan Drake and Jeff Wilson suffered high ankle sprains and you have to feel particularly bad for Wilson given the breakout game he was having.
Antonio Brown is now officially a Buccaneer and another pro-bowl WR is back around the NFL, Dez Bryant was signed to the Ravens’ practice squad. I think everyone will be getting the popcorn ready for the return of AB, let’s hope it’s his on field antics we get to enjoy rather than the off-field circus!
Week 7 Bet Results
2-3 this week but it was all over before we got started, Tony jinxing it all by making a (losing) Thursday night pick. Rule number 1 – leave out the early game!

Week 7 Fantasy Football Results
Rob maintains his lead at the top, beating Tom to go 6-1. We very nearly had our first 200-burger with Generic-Fantasy-Name winning with 199.12! So close. Mark lost again and remains rooted to the foot of the table but Tony continues his winning streak and finds himself with a winning record.

We’re a week away from the halfway point of the season now and things are getting interesting… not so much in the league but with Rob trying to fight the podcast fans!

Week 6 NFL Results
In a week where you rush for over 150 yards, you’d expect to be the top rusher but sorry Clyde, sorry Kenyan, Derrick Henry says hello. With a staggering 212 yards on the ground and another 52 receiving, Henry helped the Titans to remain unbeaten. The Brady-led Tampa Bay dismantled the cheese-heads leaving just 3 unbeaten teams; the Seahawks, the Steelers and of course Henry’s Titans, all at 5-0.
On to our teams then. Relying on their formidable defence, the Bears grind it out again to move to a tasty 5-1. I might just start copying and pasting this next sentence for Tom and Marks boys: “Washington and the Jets both lost again“. The Jets failed to register even a point this week against Tony’s Dolphins but we did get our first glimpse of Tua. Rob’s team, the Chiefs, complete the Far From Lombardi mini-round up, they got the win against the Bills, joining the Bears at 5-1. Mahomes was breaking records again, becoming the fastest to 90 career passing touchdowns (37 games), beating Dan Marino’s previous record of 90 in 40 games.
Another below average shocker for the team bet this week and look who’s to blame… no surprises with Tom to be fair, but the self-proclaimed betting-geniuses that are Tony and Rob. Well played lads!

Week 6 Fantasy Football Results
We now have a clear leader in the listener league as Rob’s Crown-Takers take top spot with a victory over the struggling Generic-Fantasy-Name. Rob capitalised on a slip up by Mahomes-Under-The-Hammer who was beat out by mikedixon22patriots. Speaking of hammers, Mark’s prejudiciously monikered Skins took their weekly hammering, this week it was from yours truly but wins for both TonyFarFromLombardi and Tom’s A-Bad-Gase-of-Mono complete a solid week for the Far From Lombardi team.
Competition
As some of you might know, Far From Lombardi host Tony has a little side-gig for NFL collectables. This week he is giving away the 2020 Panini Contenders Blaster Box which contains 2 guaranteed autographed cards! All you have to do to enter is give the Far From Lombardi Facebook page a like and a share – everyone that has liked the page by 30th October will be entered in to a draw. That’s it!
The winner will be announced by Tony on his page on the Friday 30th October – so make sure you join his Facebook group, NFL UK Card Breaks, to watch the draw and to keep up to date with all things NFL UK Card Breaks! You should give Tony a follow on Twitter too, @NFL_UKBreaks where he’ll be happy to answer any questions about how the draw works or any other of his offers.
